Between Two Zooms: Catching Up With Blake Walkowiak and Ellie Flint

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego Athletics is in the midst of its second season of the Between Two Zooms video series. In season two, fans get the opportunity to hear from scholar-athletes and members of the Triton community.

Today's edition features senior thrower Blake Walkowiak and junior sprinter Ellie Flint of the track and field team. Both Walkowiak (Marshall College) and Flint (Roosevelt College), a duo of environmentally focused majors, earned CCAA All-Academic honors in 2020.

Walkowiak was selected to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Star Team and likely headed to the NCAA Championships after an impressive pro-qualifying discus toss (173'1.0"/second all-time) at the Rossi Relays. In addition, Flint was part of the 4x400 relay squad that captured first-place at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge and individually held the CCAA's second fastest time in the 400 dash when the season abruptly ended.

The two chat with ESPN's Ted Mendenhall about their favorite summer memories, UC San Diego's transition to Division I, their team's performance at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge, and more!

Check back on UCSDtritons.com for upcoming editions of Between Two Zooms. Next week, Mendenhall chats with Taylor Onstott from women's water polo.
