Twelve Tritons Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Twelve UC San Diego track and field student-athletes earned recognition on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Teams, honoring their accomplishments both in competition and in the classroom.

The CSC Academic All-District® program recognizes student-athletes who have excelled academically while competing at a high level in their sport. To be eligible, nominees must be at least sophomores academically, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher, and rank among the top 50 performers in their region.

The Triton women were represented by Sylvana Northrop, Emma Dunmire, Tamara Aimufia, Chidiebere Agunanne, Jordyn Thomas, and Mylinh Tang.

Northrop, a cognitive science major in Muir College, continued her historic career by winning the Big West title in the 5,000 meters and advancing to the NCAA West First Round. She was recognized with the Best Record-Breaking Performance award at the 2026 Triton Awards and was named to the All-Triton Team. Northrop currently holds UC San Diego school records in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters.

Dunmire, a computer engineering major in Seventh College, earned a berth to the NCAA West First Round after a standout season that included a runner-up finish in the steeplechase at the Big West Championships. She holds the program record in the event.

Aimufia, a cognitive science major in Muir College, advanced to the NCAA West First Round and earned second place in the triple jump and fourth place in the long jump at the Big West Championships. She also ranks fourth in program history in the 400 meters and seventh in the 200 meters.

Agunanne, a data science major in Muir College, placed seventh in the triple jump at the Big West Championships.

Thomas, a cognitive science major in Muir College, helped the Tritons earn a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay at the Big West Championships and added an eighth-place finish in the 400 meters.

Tang, a cognitive science major in Seventh College, competed in the high jump at the Big West Championships, placing 16th.

The men's honorees included Jeremy Frank, Liam Urich, Miles Bennett, Cesar Salazar, Bryan Chang, and Kyle Wood.

Frank, a computer science major in Seventh College, placed eighth in the 110-meter hurdles at the Big West Championships and ranks sixth in program history in the event.

Urich, a human biology major in Marshall College, was named to the All-Triton Academic Scholar-Athlete Team. He helped the Tritons earn a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay at the Big West Championships and placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Bennett, a structural engineering major in Marshall College, advanced to the NCAA West First Round after placing third in the high jump at the Big West Championships. He ranks second in program history in the event.

Salazar, a sociology major in Muir College, earned a trip to the NCAA West First Round and finished third in the shot put at the Big West Championships. He ranks third in school history in the event.

Chang, a molecular and cell biology major in Marshall College, placed ninth in the hammer throw at the Big West Championships and ranks third in program history in the event.

Wood, a communications major in Muir College, advanced to the NCAA West First Round after a third-place finish in the javelin at the Big West Championships. He ranks third in program history in the event.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes the nation's top student-athletes in cross country and track & field across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA competition.
