LONG BEACH, Calif. ? The UC San Diego swimming team completed action at the three-day Nike Cup in Long Beach on Saturday night. The Triton women's squad finished in seventh-place while the men's team finished in eighth-place. On the women's side, Anju Shimura took third-place in the 200 back while Aubrey Panis finished sixth in the same event. The UCSD 400 free relay team of Shimura, Lauren Forbes, Erinn Deters and Panis also finished sixth. The final day on the men's side was highlighted by UCSD's 400 free relay team. The Triton quartet of Dan Perdew, J.P. Oliver, Brandon Maryatt and Todd Langland raced to a second-place finish with a time of 3:04.25.
Shimura recorded a time of 2:03.60 in the 200 back to finish third while Panis notched a time of 2:05.70 to take sixth. Deters was the fastest Triton in the 100 free with a time of 53.19. Kendall Bohn notched an eighth-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.88. Karla Holman recorded a time of 2:08.65 in the 200 breast.
On the men's side, Scott McCoid was UCSD's top finisher in the 200 back with a time of 1:54.91. Dan Gluvers finished with UCSD's top time in the 200 breast in 2:13.79.
UCSD is back in action at the UNLV Diving Invitational on December 15-16. The Triton swimming teams return to the pool on January 4 when it hosts the Air Force men's team and the UCLA women's squad.
