SEASIDE, Calif.  ?The 25th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader in the California Collegiate Athletic Association openers for both teams as UCSD defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 3-1 in game one and 7-1 in game two.  UCSD was down 1-0 in the eighth inning of the first game before Robert Sedin had an RBI tying single and Nick Burke drilled a pinch-hit go-ahead two-run homerun in the ninth for the win.  Matt Rossman pitched a complete game in the second game as Vance Albitz was one of three Tritons with multiple hits, adding three RBI from the leadoff spot.  UCSD improves to 5-3, 2-0 CCAA while the Otters drop to 3-12, 0-2 CCAA. 

In the first game, Albitz, Sedin and Justin Robles had two hits apiece.  Sedin's RBI tying single came with one out in the eighth and Burke's pinch-hit homerun came in the ninth with one out.  Tim Shibuya earned a no-decision but pitched well, going 6.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out seven.

Sean Greer earned the win out of the bullpen while Guido Knudson earned his third save of the season.

In the second game, a three-run third and a three-run eighth was enough for UCSD in its 7-1 win.  Rossman cruised through the CSUMB lineup, facing 32 batters in nine innings, scattering seven hits, walking none and striking out nine.  Albitz went 2-for-5 with three RBI while Josh Tanner went 2-for-5 and Robles went 2-for-4. 

UCSD and CSUMB will return to action on Saturday with another doubleheader set for 11:00 a.m. on the Cal State Monterey Bay campus.
