LA JOLLA, Calif.—UC San Diego baseball had a pair of scholar-athletes named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, as announced Tuesday by the organization.
Michael Crossland and
Nathan Huy were recognized for their achievements in the classroom and on the playing field.
It is the first CSC Academic All-District honor for both Crossland and Huy. The Tritons have now had 11 scholar-athletes recognized with Academic All-District distinction in the Division I era. UC San Diego baseball has had 25 Academic All-District awardees and four Academic All-Americans all-time.
MICHAEL CROSSLAND | JR | HUMAN BIOLOGY
Crossland (Seattle, Wash.) is a junior, majoring in human biology with a 3.56 grade point average at Roosevelt College. Crossland earned a spot on the 2025 Big West Spring All-Academic Team and twice was named to the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll, With Honors, with 2026 awards yet to be announced.
A two-time All-Big West honoree, Crossland earned Second Team recognition in 2026, appearing in 40 games and making 39 starts in center field before being sidelines with an injury in early May. The junior recorded a .242 batting average, .484 slugging percentage and .335 on base percentage, recording his second consecutive season with double-figure home runs. Crossland tallied 39 hits, 25 RBI and 31 runs scored for the Tritons, with nine doubles and 10 home runs on the season.
NATHAN HUY | SR | BUSINESS ECONOMICS
Huy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) is a senior, majoring in business economics with a 3.53 grade point average at Sixth College. He earned Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll, Highest Honors twice and was an All-Big West Honorable Mention in 2026.
Huy was a key situational reliever for the Tritons this season, making 20 appearances out of the bullpen. The lefty finished the regular season with a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, holding opponents to a .164 batting average. Huy tallied 15 strikeouts to six walks in 17.1 innings, earning one save and contributing to one combined shutout.
The 2026 Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions—NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must have sophomore standing both academically and athletically, as well as participated in 90 percent of the team's contests or started 66 percent of games. For pitchers, eligible nominees need to pitch 35-plus innings or appear in 17 games as a pitcher.
