POMONA, Calif. - The 22nd-ranked UC San Diego baseball team split a Saturday doubleheader with Cal Poly Pomona, as the Tritons won the series, taking 3-of-4 games. UCSD won game one 6-1, as Trevor Decker pitched a complete-game, allowing five hits and one run. Jonathan Erickson went 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and two stolen bases. The Tritons lost the final game 12-3. Garrett Imeson went 3-for-3 in the loss.
In game one with UCSD leading 3-1 through six, the Tritons added insurance runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth. UCSD scored an unearned run in the seventh inning. Josh Tanner had an RBI single in the eighth and back-to-back doubles by Tim Mort and Erickson in the ninth gave the Tritons their sixth run of the game.
The Tritons lost game two 12-3 as Imeson had three hits in the defeat.
UCSD is back in action April 14-15 for three non-conference games at Cal State Monterey Bay.
