Tritons Face Stanford and Cal on Day One of Redwood Shores Invite

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — The UC San Diego men's rowing team was back on the water Saturday to kick off its spring season at the Redwood Shores Invitational in San Mateo County.

The Tritons ran two boats, a first varsity eight and a second varsity eight. They went up against Stanford as well as host California.

Sunday, UC San Diego will wrap up action taking on Oregon State. The first varsity eight goes out at 9:20 a.m. and will be followed by the second varsity eight at 9:50 a.m.

Sunday's races, which begin at 9 a.m., can be watched live via Overnght for a charge. You can also follow free live results.

The Tritons were ranked 23rd in the January 2026 For Stars Network Way too Early national poll, California was tabbed No. 1 and was followed by Washington in second and Harvard in third. Stanford filled the No. 4 spot and Oregon State was 20th.

Santa Clara, and the University of San Diego are also in the field, but UC San Diego will not be racing either the Broncos or Toreros.

The Triton men's rowing team is in its second season as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). UC San Diego closed its 2025 season by qualifying two varsity eight boats for the IRA National Championship.
