LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego men's tennis welcomed three teams to the Tritons' home courts last weekend for the first-ever Triton Fall Invitational. Ten players saw action for the hosts across Thursday-Sunday at the Northview Tennis Courts in matches with Nevada, San Diego State and UC Davis.

UC San Diego finished with records of 9-13 in singles and 4-7 in doubles. Sophomore Carson Lee went a perfect 2-0 in singles for the Tritons, with freshman David Adamson and junior Zach Pellouchoud also picking up a pair of singles wins to both go 2-1 on the weekend. Pellouchoud teamed up with senior Pelayo Rodriguez for UC San Diego's best doubles performance as the duo finished 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The invitational began with doubles matches on Thursday versus all three schools. The hosts got off to a strong start with three victories over Nevada, highlighted by one of Pellouchoud and Rodriguez's wins and a victory from freshmen David Adamson and Robert Freedman. UC San Diego then lost three matches with UC Davis and one with San Diego State.

Friday's action kicked off with more doubles, this time exclusively against fellow Big West school UC Davis. The Tritons lost all three one-set contests, with Pellouchoud and Rodriguez the closest to victory as they fell in a tiebreaker. UC San Diego then rebounded with three singles wins against Nevada from Adamson, Lee and Pellouchoud.

Saturday's lone doubles match against a different school saw Pellouchoud and Rodriguez earn a comfortable 6-1 victory over San Diego State. The Tritons also squared off against each other for two intersquad doubles matches. Singles action then brought UC San Diego the most wins of the weekend as five players picked up victories in matches with UC Davis.

Only singles matches were played on Sunday. Pellouchoud and Diogo Tinoco both won in straight sets over opponents from San Diego State. Four other Tritons faced UC Davis and ultimately dropped all four contests.

TRITON TIDBITS

• The men's team joined the women's team (Oct. 17-19) in hosting a fall event for the first time.
• Freshmen David Adamson, Robert Freedman and James Krantz all made their home debuts, with Adamson and Freedman picking up their first home wins in both singles and doubles.
• Carson Lee continued his strong start to the year after reaching the round of 16 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship in October. The sophomore finished the fall schedule with a 6-3 singles record.
