Men’s Tennis Solidifies Highest-Ranked Recruiting Class in Program History

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Tennis Recruiting Network announced its annual recruiting class rankings Monday, and UC San Diego men's tennis has its highest ranking in program history. The Tritons are ranked No. 22 nationally among all mid-major programs.

The incoming class of 2026 is only the third Triton recruiting class to appear in the mid-major rankings. UC San Diego was previously ranked No. 24 in both 2023 and 2011.

Head coach Timmer Willing and associate head coach Jake De Vries have secured four commitments from this year's high school recruiting class, with each incoming scholar-athlete ranked as a four-star recruit. Two San Diego natives, Nicholas Lilov and Oskar Rouse, will be joined in La Jolla by Samuel He (South San Francisco) and Ivan Pflueger (Newport Beach). He (No. 77), Rouse (No. 81) and Lilov (No. 93) are all top-100 recruits.

The rankings only include high school recruits. The Tritons will also add transfer scholar-athlete Cayden Wang from Vanderbilt to the team next season. Wang, an Irvine native, was a four-star recruit ranked No. 50 in the class of 2025.

The newcomers join a Triton team that featured six underclassmen in the 2025-26 season. Two-thirds of UC San Diego's lineup spots at this season's Big West Championship were filled by those underclassmen.
