FOLSOM, Calif.— The UC San Diego men's rowing team finished first in all three races at the Western Sprints, earning them a spot in the IRA National Championships June 2 through to June 4.

The varsity eight came out on top in the last race of the day. With a finish at 5:56.162, UC San Diego beat out Santa Clara shortly behind at 5:57.988, then followed by Gonzaga and the University of San Diego.

The second race of the day showed the Tritons ahead of both Gonzaga and Santa Clara. With a time of 6:00.387, UC San Diego picked up momentum that allowed them to gain over a two second advantage on Gonzaga.

The third varsity eight set a great tone for the morning as the crew led the heat with a finish at 6:09.376. The crew was just under two seconds ahead of Santa Clara followed by Gonzaga.
