CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The UC San Diego men's rowing team concluded day one of the Triton's first annual UC San Diego Invitational. The squad competed with four crews in the regatta including a first, second, and third Varsity 8 boat in addition to a Novice 4.
UC SAN DIEGO VARSITY 8
The Tritons' Varsity 8 hit the water running at 10:30 a.m. putting up a great time of 5:52.9. This exceeded that of the other crew in their heat with Gonzaga coming in at a time of 5:56.4. In addition, they also completed at a faster time than both Marietta and Santa Clara in the other Varsity 8 race.

Later Saturday afternoon, the team's Varsity 8 put up a time of 6:06.65. Just under 8 seconds slower from their previous performance that morning, they still out paced Marietta who followed with a time of 6:18.75.

Wrapping up the weekend with an additional race Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m., the Tritons finished with a time of 6:02.2 ahead of Santa Clara with a time of 6:12.1.

UC SAN DIEGO SECOND VARSITY 8
UC San Diego's second crew as well threw up some impeccable numbers, exceeding those of all their opponents. Starting at 10:50 a.m., the Tritons threw up a time of 5:59.17, faster than their opponents Gonzaga and Santa Clara, following closely behind with times of 6:02.17 and 6:15.57, respectively.

For their second race of the day, the Tritons took on Santa Clara and Gonzaga a second time, leading the race yet again with a time of 6:10.09.Â

To conclude the second boat's participation in the regatta, Sunday morning the crew hit the water running at 8:50 a.m., putting up a time of 6:03.63. Following closely behind was Gonzaga at 6:05.99 and Santa Clara at 6:11.87.

UC SAN DIEGO THIRD VARSITY 8
The squad's third boat set up at the start Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. Pulling through with a time of 6:12.87, the Tritons came in just behind Santa Clara's crew at 6:08.37. Later in the evening, the crew got a second go but came in short yet again to Santa Clara while still out pacing Gonzaga, finishing at 6:27.26.

Sunday morning bright and early the Tritons went head-to-head with Santa Clara at 8:00 a.m. sharp. This time, advancing on their time the evening before, the third varsity 8 came in at 6:17.52 but still fell short to Santa Clara.Â
UC SAN DIEGO NOVICE 4
UC San Diego threw together a Novice 4 boat for the last day of the UC San Diego Invitational. Only having one competitor, the University of San Diego, the Tritons finished roughly 16 seconds ahead with a time of 6:58.78.
