LA JOLLA, Calif. – Recent Triton graduate
Noa Kerner of the UC San Diego men's rowing team has been named to the inaugural class of Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-Americans. The organization revealed its first-ever selections on Wednesday morning.
Kerner was one of 73 rowers and coxswains to meet the All-America criteria. In total, 28 teams (23 heavyweight and 5 lightweight) were represented across First, Second and Honorable Mention distinctions. Voted on by the IRCA Board of Directors, Kerner tabbed Honorable Mention.
The mechanical engineering major graduated this past June following a successful rowing career in the blue and gold. A native of Waimanalo, Hawaii, Kerner served as a team co-captain for the Varsity 8 boat in 2020-21. He was recognized on both the UC San Diego All-Triton Scholar-Athlete Team and All-Triton Scholar-Athlete Academic Team, while also being named a 2021 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar by
Diverse Issues in Higher Education.
Kerner helped the men's Varsity 8 boat place first at Western Sprints, helping guide the squad to UCSDTritons.com Athlete of the Week honors on May 24. He also competed in the Varsity 8 boat at the IRA National Championship from May 28-29.
