Noah Conlon

NOAH CONLON, BASEBALL

Conlon pitched his first complete game in a 5-2 victory over CSUN. The senior RHP threw nine strikeouts, matching a career high. He gave up seven hits, two walks and two runs in his start, with the second run coming in the ninth inning. Conlon finishes the year with a 3-5 record and only gave up four runs in his last four starts.

Everett Lau

EVERETT LAU, BASEBALL

In his final at-bat of his career, Lau hit a walk-off grand slam to defeat CSUN 5-4 on senior day and take the series. The homerun was his fourth of the season and first grand slam. His four RBIs tied a season high he previously recorded against SDSU when the Tritons won their first ever Division I game.

Jackson Kritsch

JACKSON KRITSCH, BASEBALL

Kritsch led the Tritons to a series win over Hawaii. The Triton first baseman had a slash of .400/.438/.533. He went 6-for-15 from the plate with two doubles, five RBIs and a run. Kritsch was a perfect 3-for-3 in the series finale and scored the finale run. He recorded the finale out of a 3-2 victory in game four to give the Tritons the series clinching win. Kritsch also had a season high in RBIs in game one with three.

VARSITY 8, MEN'S ROWING

UC San Diego's Varsity 8 captured first place at the Western Sprints on May 15 with a time of 5:55.85 in their race. It was the closest race of the day, as Santa Clara finished 1.88 seconds behind the Tritons. Gonzaga followed behind the Broncos, while USD rounded out the results in fourth place. It was the third-straight instance that the Tritons' Varsity 8 has placed first at the Western Sprints, as they previously did so in 2018 and 2019. (The event was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19.)

Isabel Lavrov

ISABEL LAVROV, SOFTBALL

Second baseman Isabel Lavrov went out on bang in UC San Diego's final games of the 2021 campaign, helping her team to a 2-1 Big West series win over Cal Poly. Lavrov was 4-for-10 (.400) in the box including a two-bagger in game one and a clutch three-RBI game in the finale. Overall, she delivered a pair of multi-hit performances, scored two runs, was walked twice and stole a base -- a perfect 6-for-6 on the season. In the infield, the Berkeley native recorded six put outs, 11 assists and committed just one error. Her on-base percentage and slugging were identical at .500.

VARSITY 8, WOMEN'S ROWING

The Tritons' Varsity 8 battled hard for third place at their first-ever CAA Championship on Sunday. The quest for third was tightly contested between UC San Diego and Delaware in lanes six and one, respectively, but the Tritons were able to pull ahead. Following just Northeastern – who was ultimately the CAA champion – and Drexel, UC San Diego crossed the finish line with a time of 6:45.629. Erika Rohloff of the Varsity 8 was named to the All-CAA Team.

Bobbi Aguirre

BOBBI AGUIRRE, SOFTBALL

Redshirt junior Bobbi Aguirre had a monstrous weekend at the plate to help her team to a 3-0 sweep over CSUN. Aguirre batted .750 (6-for-8) including a two-run home run, a walk, three runs scored and three RBIs. The Chino Hills native generated an on-base percentage of .778 and a slugging percentage of 1.125. With a pair of multi-hit games in the series, she brings her total to 10 on the year. The four-bagger that came in game three was her third this season and 12th of her career, bumping her to ninth all-time in the record books. Additionally, her defense was flawless as she was errorless at first base. 

Brandon Weed

BRANDON WEED, BASEBALL

Weed had his best performance on the mound this season and led the Tritons to a series clinching win over one of the top programs in the Big West, Cal State Fullerton. Through a season high seven innings of work, Weed threw nine strikeouts, gave up seven hits, and only allowed one walk and one run. He earned his second win of the season to improve to 3-2. The nine strikeouts were the most this season and one shy of a career high. In conference action, Weed has posted an ERA of 2.36 in conference action and not taken a loss in a single Big West game this season. The Tritons have only lost one game in Big West action when Weed has started on the mound.

2020 UC San Diego Track and Field

MEGAN MATTSON, TRACK AND FIELD 

Junior Megan Mattson met a personal best in the 100 hurdles at the UC Riverside Sprint Invite on Friday. Her time of 14.51-seconds was good for third overall and entered the Triton record books at number 10, surpassing Claudia Cox by just one-hundredth of a second. Mattson also put up a solid display in the 400 hurdles, placing third overall with a time of 1-minute, 3.48-seconds.

Gabriel Reuter

GABE REUTER, TRACK AND FIELD

Sophomore distance runner Gabe Reuter ran a 14:46.22 in the men's 5000 on Thursday night at the UC Riverside Distance Invite. The mark put him second overall behind Cal Baptist's winner by 1.67-seconds. It is Reuter's first year running the event but he has already etched his name into the record books at ninth all-time.

Kaia Simpson

KAIA SIMPSON, SOFTBALL

Sophomore Kaia Simpson threw a career-best seven inning, one-run complete game in UC San Diego's game two, 5-1 win against UC Davis. It was her first victory of the 2021 season. Simpson generated an ERA of 1.00 allowing just five hits, none which were extra bases and struck out four. She retired the Aggies in order in two frames and held her opponent to a .200 batting average. The Seattle, Wash. native also made an appearance in game three, tossing an additional three innings. On the weekend, she accumulated an overall ERA of 1.40 and fielded her position cleanly with no errors in the circle.

Kyle McCauley

KYLE MCCAULEY, VOLLEYBALL

Averaged 4.9 points, 3.8 kills, and 0.9 aces per set, all team-highs, over three matches at the Big West Conference Championship…Also led the team with his .963 reception percentage and was second with 2.5 digs/set…In UC San Diego's win over CSUN, the team's first ever postseason victory as an NCAA Division I or Division II team, he had a match-high 18 kills to go along with 12 digs, three aces, and a block…The next night, he put down another match-high 18 kills as the Tritons handed No. 1 Hawaii its first loss of the season to snap the Warriors' 16-match win streak…Also had a career-best four aces, a team-high 10 digs, plus four blocks and three assists…It was UC San Diego's first win against Hawaii since 2012…McCauley had yet another match-high with 13 kills against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara in the conference championship match…Also contributed 11 digs, another four aces, three assists, and a block.

VARSITY 8, WOMEN'S ROWING

Despite 685 days since their last race, UC San Diego's Varsity 8 showed no signs of rust as they opened the Division I era. UC San Diego crossed the finish line with a time of 6:56.6 to earn first place in a dual against San Diego State, finishing more than 10 seconds ahead of its crosstown rival, who posted a time of 7:06.8. The teams have gone head-to-head for the Patty Wyatt Perpetual Trophy since 2017, and this was the first time that the Tritons claimed the trophy. UC San Diego's Varsity 8 was comprised of Juni Kim (cox), Erika Rohloff (8), Natalie Norstad (7), Sabrina Koldinger (6), Teresa Taylor (5), Hailey Caldwell-Meurer (4), Sophia Gordon (3), Emme Silverman (2), and Taylor Iantosca (1).

Blake Baumgartner

BLAKE BAUMGARTNER, BASEBALL

Baumgartner had a strong weekend at the plate against a talented Gaucho pitching staff. He went 8-for-15 at the plate with a double, a home run six RBIs and three runs. In game two, Baumgartner recorded his 150th career hit. He also was walked twice over the weekend. His series hitting percentage of .533 helped boost his season hitting percentage by nearly .05.

Annika Arroyo

ANNIKA ARROYO, WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Arroyo led the Tritons in scoring in a split series against UC Davis with seven goals. In the Triton's 11-7 conference victory over the Aggies, she scored four goals with three coming in the second quarter. She also had a pair of steals for the Tritons. In game two, she scored a game high three goals. The victory against the Aggies in game one kept the Tritons perfect in Big West games with a 3-0 record and was the first win over UC Davis since 2013.

Michael Mitchell

MICHAEL MITCHELL, BASEBALL

RHP Michael Mitchell pitched out of the bullpen 2.2 innings and helped preserve the Triton's lead in their 5-2 victory over #26 UC Irvine. He allowed two hits, two walks, one run and threw for a career high six strikeouts. Mitchell was credited with the win, making it his first of the season. Mitchell also has two saves on the season. Mitchell also pitched a scoreless 0.2 innings in game three and threw a strikeout.

2019-20 UC San Diego Womens Tennis

SOPHIE PEARSON, WOMEN'S TENNIS

UC San Diego sophomore Sophie Pearson earned a hard-fought win at No. 1 singles in the Tritons' match against UC Irvine Saturday. The co-captain won 6-7 (7-5), 7-5, 10-7 at the top spot, giving the Tritons their first ever No. 1 singles victory in Division I. Pearson and freshman Ella Pachl also were victorious in doubles, winning 6-3 over the Anteaters at the number one position.

2020 UC San Diego Track and Field

BLAKE WALKOWIAK, TRACK AND FIELD

Senior thrower Blake Walkowiak became UC San Diego's all-time record holder in the discus, beating a mark that stood for 29 years, at the Chris Rinne Twilight on April 2. His massive heave of 176'10" was good for second place overall and surpassed Triton alum Scott Sargeant's 173'10" toss set back in 1992. Walkowiak's hurl now ranks third among the Big West Conference.

Emma Zmurk

EMMA ZMURK, FENCING

Senior epeeist Emma Zmurk earned All-America accolades by placing 11th at the National Collegiate Fencing Championships at Penn State. She played a major part in UC San Diego's seventh-place team finish, a program-best. The Tritons' Epee Squad Captain had several impressive victories which included beating Long Island University's Laura Fekete, who went on to win the national title later in the day. Zmurk also defeated Notre Dame's Miriam Grady, who took third overall at Nationals.

Vedran Markota

VEDRAN MARKOTA, FENCING

Sophomore Vedran Markota was named an All-American after placing ninth in Men's Epee at the National Collegiate Fencing Championships at Penn State. The 2020 Croatian National Champion, Markota's performance helped UC San Diego to a seventh-place finish overall, a program-best. He's currently en route to Egypt to compete the World Championships.

Bennett Bugelli

BENNETT BUGELLI - WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Bugelli was named the Harper Cup MVP in the No. 10 Triton's 10-7 win over crosstown rival No. 15 San Diego State in the annual Harper Cup. Bugelli finished the game with 13 saves, a steal and even scored her first career goal. Bugelli had a big save on a penalty shot to squash any positive momentum from the Aztecs. The senior was the first goalkeeper to ever score in the Harper Cup and defended her MVP status from 2019.

Ryan McNally

RYAN MCNALLY, BASEBALL

Went 6-for-11 in the Triton's series against Santa Clara with a season best four hits in the Triton's final game of the series. In the final game of the series, he hit his first double of the season and had a season high two RBIs. McNally only struck out once against Santa Clara. Defensively, McNally had a career high eight putouts in the final game and was apart of three double plays over the course of the series.

Annika Arroyo

ANNIKA ARROYO - WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Freshman Annika Arroyo led the Tritons to an upset 10-9 victory over No. 7 Hawaii. Her three goals helped the Tritons start off Big West Conference play with a win and gave them their first victory over Hawai'i since 2014. In the non-conference loss, Arroyo had a career high four goals and added two steals.

Ryan Ka

RYAN KA, MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Posted match- and career-highs with 25 kills and 28 points in 3-2 win vs. No. 12 UC Irvine in La Jolla…Most kills by a Triton in a match since 1/25/20…Also added career-best five blocks and hit .385…The night prior in Irvine, finished with a team-high 19 kills, which was a new career-high until a day later…Recorded his first career double-double at UCI by adding a match- and career-high 11 digs…For the week, averaged 4.8 points, 4.4 kills, 1.8 digs, and 0.5 blocks per set while hitting .293 from the outside.

Julia Hill

JULIA HILL, FENCING

Junior saber fencer Julia Hill racked up 13 victories Sunday to help the Triton women win their sixth Western Fencing Conference crown in the last seven years. Her win total during the WFC Championships tied with one other fencer for the most among all saber competitors. UC San Diego was perfect on the day in Colorado, defeating Air Force, Incarnate Word, and Stanford.

Mikey Howell

MIKEY HOWELL, MEN'S BASKETBALL

UC San Diego senior Mikey Howell paced the Tritons in a sweep of Cal State Fullerton. Howell set a career-high with 14 assists on Friday and followed that up with 13 more Saturday night, becoming the all-time assists leader in UC San Diego history with 502. For the weekend, Howell averaged 11 points on 64.3% shooting (9-14), 13.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game, while committing just four total turnovers. Howell was tops in the Big West in assists (6.0) this season and now has 11 career games with double digit helpers.

Ciara Franke

CIARA FRANKE, WOMEN'S WATER POLO

Senior Ciara Franke led the No. 10 Tritons to a 15-7 defeat over No. 21 California Baptist. She led the Tritons in scoring with a hat trick and added an assist. Franke continued to play great two-meter defense and recorded two field blocks.

Anthony Lucchetti

ANTHONY LUCCHETTI, BASEBALL

Senior Anthony Lucchetti finished the weekend going 7-for-17 from the plate and added four RBIs and three runs. He hit the Tritons' first homerun of the season in game one of the Tritons' series with SDSU. In the Triton's victory over the Aztecs, Lucchetti went 1-for-3 with and RBI and a run. He was also walked twice in the game.

Sydney_Brown

SYDNEY BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Junior Sydney Brown shined in UC San Diego's pair of road wins over UC Riverside, recording two double-doubles in the victories. Brown started off the series with 20 points and 12 rebounds – both game highs – in the Tritons' 63-59 win. The Rexford, N.Y. native followed up with a career-best 16 rebounds the next night, as well as a team-high 17 points in the 74-67 victory. Across the two contests, Brown recorded a 63.2 field goal percentage and knocked down five of her six attempts from beyond the arc.

GabeGabe Hadley Hadley

GABE HADLEY, MEN'S BASKETBALL

UC San Diego senior Gabe Hadley led the Tritons to a dramatic overtime victory over UC Riverside on Saturday. With his team trailing by three and time winding down, Hadley knocked down a well-contested three-pointer to send the game to OT. In the extra session with his team trailing by two, Hadley drilled a game-winning shot from well beyond the arc, lifting UC San Diego to the win. Hadley finished with 25 points (6-11 3FG) and a career-high five assists in the win. For the weekend, the Australia native averaged 21 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 51.9% (14-27).

Aishah_Brown

AISHAH BROWN, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Freshman forward Aishah Brown was the Tritons' rebound leader in both games against CSU Bakersfield this past weekend. On Friday, Brown set a new collegiate high with 10 boards, followed by seven rebounds the following night (tied with Sydney Brown). Brown also contributed 13 points, two assists, and a block in the two contests.

Toni Rocak

TONI ROCAK, MEN'S BASKETBALL

Junior forward Toni Rocak paced the men's basketball teams in their games at CSU Bakersfield. On Friday, he matched his career high with 20 points while pulling down a personal best 12 rebounds – UC San Diego's first double-double of the season. The following night, Rocak made his first career start and scored nine points. For the week, he averaged 14.5 points and seven rebounds per game, shooting 47.6%.

Tyla_Turner

TYLA TURNER, WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Senior guard Tyla Turner averaged 10 points, 6.5 assists, and five rebounds per game as the Tritons faced Long Beach State for a two-game series on Jan. 29 and 30. Turner particularly shined in the second game against her former team, as she led the Tritons with 16 points and dished out eight assists, which was a season high for her. The San Bernardino native started both games, averaging 32.5 minutes. Turner was especially sharp behind the arc during the series as she shot 54.5%.

Martin Tombe

MARTIN TOMBE, MEN'S BASKETBALL

Senior Martin Tombe scored a career-high 14 points off the bench in UC San Diego's 101-64 victory over Bethesda on Sunday. Tombe connected on 5-of-8 field goals, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Tombe's four 3-point field goals also marked a personal best. As a team, the Tritons set a new Big West Conference single game record with 22 trifectas in the win.

Sydney_Brown

Sydney Brown, Women's Basketball

Junior Sydney Brown racked up a game-high 23 points and 15 rebounds against Long Beach State on Friday, and her 15 boards were also a career best. The Rexford N.Y. native's double-double was her second of the season. Brown followed up the next day with nine points and a team-best eight rebounds against the Beach. She started both games, playing 37 minutes on Friday and 28 minutes on Saturday.

Hugh Baxter

Hugh Baxter, Men's Basketball

Senior Hugh Baxter scored a game-high 17 points on Sunday in the Tritons' non-conference game at UC Riverside. Baxter knocked down a career-high five three-pointers in the game, and shot 6-of-12 overall. He pulled down three rebounds over 21 minutes of action.

Emily_Cangelosi

Emily Cangelosi, Women's Basketball

Redshirt junior guard Emily Cangelosi put up 11 points against UC Davis on Friday, the second highest total of her career, on 4-7 shooting (.571). The Agoura Hills native was particularly sharp from beyond the arc, as she shot 3-4 (.750) in 3-point territory. Cangelosi also collected five rebounds that game, tied for the team high. The following day, she scored nine points against the Aggies, once again on 4-7 shooting (.571).

GabeGabe Hadley Hadley

Gabe Hadley - Men's Basketball

UC San Diego senior Gabe Hadley helped the Tritons to their first-ever Division I win and first-ever win over a Big West foe on with his 29-point effort on 10-of-13 shooting on Friday night. He knocked down 7 three pointers on 10 attempts. For the week, Hadley averaged 18 points per game on 60% shooting overall and 53% from beyond the arc as the Tritons split a pair of games against UC Davis.

Tyla_Turner

Tyla Turner - Women's Basketball

Senior guard Tyla Turner poured in a game-high 24 points, her most this season, and made the game-winning basket with just 4.2 seconds left in UC San Diego's 73-71 win over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at RIMAC Arena. The San Bernardino native also collected seven rebounds, another season high, and dished out five assists across 37 minutes in the victory. Turner leads the Big West with 5.7 assists per game.

Toni Rocak - Men's Basketball

Junior forward Toni Rocak paced the Tritons in their Big West opening series at UC Santa Barbara. The native of Sweden led UC San Diego in scoring at 11 points per game, while grabbing four rebounds per contest. Rocak shot 47% overall and connected on 6-of-8 free throw attempts, blocking a pair of shots in 18 minutes per game off the bench. For the season, Rocak leads the Tritons in both points and rebounds per game.

Tyla_Turner

Tyla Turner - Women's Basketball

Senior guard Tyla Turner led the Tritons with 13 points on Jan. 1 in the Tritons' Division I debut against Cal Poly. Playing 32 minutes in the contest, Turner's six assists and two steals were also a team best. Turner was consistent, as she again contributed a team-high six assists and two steals in UC San Diego's first DI win on Jan. 2. The San Bernardino native also recorded seven points and four rebounds in the victory.

Toni Rocak

Toni Rocak - Men's Basketball

Junior forward Toni Rocak scored 20 points off the bench on 8-13 shooting (61.5%) in UC San Diego's first-ever Division I game Saturday vs. UC Irvine. The transfer grabbed five rebounds and came away with two steals over a career-high 22 minutes played. For the season, Rocak leads the Big West in field goal percentage (.667) and steals per game (4.0). Rocak paces the Tritons and ranks 12th in the Big West in scoring at 13.3 points per game.

Sydney_Brown

Sydney Brown - Women's Basketball

Sydney Brown averaged over 20 points per game as the Tritons opened their Division I era against Cal Poly. In UC San Diego's first-ever Big West win, Brown went off for 31 points and 14 rebounds, both of which were career highs. The Rexford, N.Y. native's 31 points were the most by a Triton since Nov. 10, 2018. Additionally, Brown was perfect at the free throw line in the victory (7-7)

Jake Killingsworth

Jake Killingsworth - Men's Basketball

Playing in his first games as a Triton, grad transfer Jake Killingsworth paced UC San Diego in a pair of wins over visiting Saint Katherine. Killingsworth averaged 14 points per game on 71% shooting (10-14), and he sank six of nine three-point attempts. The Bay Area native averaged 19 minutes per game as the Tritons ran their winning streak to 24 consecutive games dating back to December 2019.
