LOS ANGELES, Calif. ?The UC San Diego men's volleyball team lost to No. 8 UCLA 30-26, 35-33, 30-22 on Friday night at Pauley Pavilion. UCSD dropped a hard fought 35-33 decision in the second game, before the Bruins hit at a .500 clip in set three to put away the sweep. UCSD was led by Frank Fritsch with 20 kills on .552 hitting. Will Ehrman chipped in with 10 kills and Eric Leserman had seven digs. With the loss, the Tritons drop to 1-4, 0-3 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while UCLA improves to 3-4, 2-2 MPSF.
In addition to the combined 30 kills by Fritsch and Ehrman, Adrian Guthals and Gerald Houseman recorded five kills apiece. Phil Bannan had 40 assists while Calvin Ross and Fritsch added three blocks apiece.
UCLA was led by Garrett Muagututia with 15 kills, while Kyle Caldwell and Thomas Amberg had 10 kills each.
UCSD is back in action on Wednesday night when it returns to RIMAC Arena to face Princeton. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
