Three Tritons Named All-Big West

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Big West released its 2026 Men's Volleyball All-Conference Team on Wednesday, as voted on by the league's head coaches. UC San Diego has three selections in Sebastiano Sani, Josh Ewert and Jim Garrison.
 
Sani is a First Team honoree, while Ewert and Garrison were both named Honorable Mentions.
 
Sani is a junior outside hitter from Bethesda, Maryland. He is majoring in international business at Muir College. Sani leads the Tritons in kills, aces and points. In Big West matches this season he is averaging 4.11 points, 3.48 kills, 1.00 digs, 0.45 blocks and 0.38 aces per set while hitting .290.
 
Ewert is a redshirt junior outside and opposite hitter from Moraga, California. He is majoring in communication at Seventh College. Ewert is the only Triton to play in all 25 matches this year. In Big West play he is averaging 2.31 points, 1.90 kills, 1.05 digs and 0.30 aces per set while hitting .295.
 
Garrison is a redshirt senior middle blocker from Manhattan Beach, California. He is majoring in computer science at Warren College. Garrison leads the Tritons in solo blocks this season and total blocks in Big West contests. In Big West play he is averaging 2.01 points, 1.54 kills and 0.79 blocks per set while hitting .526.
 
This is the second-straight year that the Tritons have earned three All-Big West selections, which is tied for their second-most all-time. UC San Diego has had at least one scholar-athlete honored every year for the last seven years. This is the third-straight year with a Triton being named to the First Team.
 
Ewert and Garrison were previously named to The Big West All-Freshman Team together in 2023.
 
The Tritons finished the regular season fifth in the conference standings. They open The Big West Championship on Thursday against the four seed, UC Santa Barbara. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. at the Bren Events Center on the campus of UC Irvine. ESPN+ will broadcast the entire championship, which runs through Saturday.
