Tritons Begin Play At The 52nd Southern California Intercollegiate Championships In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Calif.  ? The UC San Diego men's tennis team completed the first day of the 52nd Southern California Intercollegiate Championships on Wednesday evening.  UCSD's Armaun Emami earned the only win for the Tritons on the day, despite several strong matches.  After dropping his first match to John Park 6-1, 6-4, Emami defeated Danny Colton 6-3, 7-5. 

 

Other Tritons competing include Naveen Dixit, Brandon Stevenson, Vincent Nguyen and Kazumi Negishi.  The tournament is being held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.  It is a tournament for players who attend four-year colleges and universities.  Tournament action continues on Thursday with the doubles portion of the tournament.

 

In addition to Emami's matches, several other Tritons put up strong matches before dropping matches on Wednesday.  Negishi lost his match to Daniel Moore by scores of 7-6, 7-5.  Dixit lost to Ronald Chow 6-4, 6-1 and Brandon Stevenson lost to Jake Flemming 6-3, 6-0.  Nguyen lost to Janosh Apelt 6-0, 6-2.
