LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The UC San Diego baseball team hit two homeruns in the first inning en route to a 10-3 win over San Francisco State on Friday afternoon at Triton Baseball Field. With the win, UCSD improves to 13-8, 5-4 CCAA, while the Gators drop to 3-14, 2-7 CCAA. Trevor Decker pitched seven strong innings to earn the win. Decker improves to 4-1 on the season. In the first inning, David Morehead led off the game with a homer to leftfield. Scott Clement also homered in the first as the Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead. UCSD and SFSU continue the four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch of the first game is set for 11:00 a.m.

Chris Franco led off the UCSD second with a single and advanced to second on John Roth's sac bunt. Jonathan Erickson then reached on an error, putting runners on the corners. Vance Albitz then tripled to right center for two RBI and would score on the next batter on a wild pitch to put UCSD ahead 5-0. With two outs, Matt Cantele doubled and would score on Matt Lawson's double for the 6-0 lead.
In the UCSD fifth, Lawson led off with a walk and stole second with one out. He would later steal third. Garrett Imeson walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Franco then walked to load the bases. John Roth then got an RBI as he was hit by the pitch. A SFSU wild pitch would score another UCSD run for the 8-0 lead without a hit in the inning. Erickson then hit an infield single, for an RBI and UCSD led 9-0 through five.
SFSU broke through in the sixth on back-to-back doubles by Russell Graham and Larry Lewis.
SFSU's Ryan Richardson had an RBI double in the seventh, bringing SFSU within 9-2.
SFSU tacked on an unearned run in the eighth for its third run of the game.
Lawson had a two-out RBI single in the ninth for UCSD's 10th run of the game.
