Azusa, Calif. ? The UC San Diego women's tennis team fell to 1-1 on the season after suffering a 7-2 loss to Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon in Azusa, Calif.
UCSD captured one of the three doubles matches as Ina Dan and Liz Brown picked up an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 spot over Raguel Godfried and Kate Selsma. The Tritons lost by an 8-0 score at the No.1 spot and by an 8-5 margin at the No. 2 doubles match.
Freshman Tessa Tran picked up the team's only other point in the match as she was up 7-5 and 1-0 in the second before her opponent, Kate Selsma, was forced to retire in the match due to injury. All five other singles matches were captured in straight-sets by the Cougars.
UCSD returns to action on Wednesday, February 8, making a short drive across town to take on Point Loma Nazarene at 2:30 p.m. The next home match for the Tritons is against Sonoma State on Friday, February 24 at 2 p.m. at the Northview Tennis Courts.
