Tritons Fall to Beach in Big West Championship

SAN DIEGO – UC San Diego (7-16) was defeated by Long Beach State (13-10) with a final score of 0-4 on Wednesday at the Barnes Tennis Center. Long Beach State secured the doubles point and then swept the No. 3, 4, and 5 singles in the opening round of the Big West Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego dropped the doubles point with finished matches at No. 1 and 3. On No. 1 Olivia Allegre and Julia Visaya were defeated 2-6. Alisa Lansky and Allison Lian battled back from a 0-4 deficit at No. 3 before ultimately being defeated 3-6. Carling Allaye-Chan and Hana Gamracy at No. 2 doubles were left unfinished, tied at 5-5.
 
In singles, Lansky finished first at No. 3, 3-6, 2-6. Gamracy finished next in straight sets 3-6, 4-6 at No. 4. Visaya finished at No. 5 after another tight match, 4-6, 3-6.
 
Allegre led one set 6-4, finishing the second 6-7(6) before the third was left unfinished. Lian also led a set 6-3, leading the second 5-1 when the match was clinched. On No. 2 Allaye-Chan's match was left unfinished where she trailed 2-6, 4-5.
