LA JOLLA, Calif. – One year into his tenure, UC San Diego Athletics Director
Andy Fee has finalized a reorganization of the department's operating structure. Fee has promoted
Stephanie Duke to Deputy Athletic Director, Internal Operations and
Danielle Melman to Executive Senior Associate A.D., External Operations. Those two promotions join last month's announcements of
Bill Carr being elevated to Deputy Athletic Director, Basketball, and the hiring of
Epiphany Clark as Senior Deputy Athletics Director Rounding out the department's executive leadership team are Jose Genao, Executive Director of Athletics Compliance, and Heather Ledezma, Senior Director of Business Operations. In addition, the department will soon launch a national search for a new Executive Director of Development.
"We live in a disruptor world, and I want to empower our team to make timely decisions, seize opportunities, and innovate with confidence. This structure allows us to be more operationally efficient and move at a quicker pace, positioning ourselves to be a world-class athletic department befitting of this world-class university," said Fee. "This efficiency will help me free up time to go out and get us the resources we need to compete at the highest level."
Duke is now Deputy Athletic Director, Internal Operations, adding health & wellness (including performance and sports medicine) as well as academic oversight to her role. She remains the department's designated Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Duke originally joined the UC San Diego staff as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration in Nov. 2022. She works closely with coaches and scholar-athletes as administrator for several sport programs and directs the department's capital projects, oversees event management and facility planning and works closely with institutional partners to ensure broad collaboration throughout the campus community.
Melman now serves as Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations at UC San Diego, providing executive leadership and strategic oversight for the department's marketing, ticketing, corporate partnerships, communications, broadcasting and creative services. In her role, Melman leads an integrated external operations team focused on driving revenue, strengthening the UC San Diego Athletics brand, increasing attendance and fan engagement, and expanding relationships with corporate partners, campus constituents and the San Diego community. Previously, she served as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Business Innovation and Resource Development, where she was the strategic leader for revenue generation within UC San Diego Athletics.
