DAVIS, Calif. – UC San Diego (8-11) dropped their Big West opener to UC Davis (9-8), 0-7. The Aggies captured the doubles point and held off the Tritons in singles matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles play, UC Davis clinched the point with wins at No. 1 and 2.
Trevor Nguyen and
Abhinav Chunduru at No. 1 dropped their set 6-3. On No. 2
Andrew Beceiro and
Prathinav Chunduru ended in a tight scoreline, 7-5.
Oliver Worth and
Yaron Guberman at No. 3 were left unfinished 5-5.

In singles action, UC Davis was able to sweep all six, with many wins coming in tiebreaker or extra sets. At No. 1 Worth forced two tiebreaker sets 6-7, 6-7. On No. 2 P. Chunduru finished 6-7, 0-6. Nguyen on No. 3 also battled through two close sets, 5-7, 4-6.

The Tritons continued to battle through close matches with the UC Davis win over A. Chunduru at No. 4 finishing 3-6, 5-7. At No. 5 Guberman played lost his first set 3-6, came back to win his second 6-3, but lost in a 10-1 tiebreaker third set. At No. 6
Trey Fourticq finished 2-6, 4-6.
