Tritons Set for Homestand, Pacific Coast Doubles

UC San Diego hosts Villanova on Thursday, Pacific on Sunday, with the Pacific Coast Doubles spanning from Thursday to Sunday.

LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Tritons return home Thursday, Feb. 26 after facing five opponents in six matches the past two weekends. UC San Diego will compete first against the Villanova Wildcatsand the match is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons will also be competing in the Pacific Coast Doubles this weekend. The matches are being held at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club from Thursday Feb. 26 to Sunday, March 1. To finish the weekend, UC San Diego plays another home match against Pacific Sunday. The match against the future WCC foes is set to begin at 3 p.m.

PACIFIC COAST DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP
The competition begins on Thursday night, Feb. 26, and concludes on Sunday, March 1. All matches will be played at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, located at 2000 Spindrift Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037.
 
All 10 Triton players will be in action. The pairing list and each team's first match time are below. Further rounds will be posted on the tournament website. The format is a single-elimination bracket, although some consolation matches will be available. Adamson and Fourticq will compete in the tournament's first round, the round of 128. The other four teams received byes to the round of 64.

RUN IT BACK
The Tritons and Wildcats last faced each other on Feb. 27, 2025, resulting in a 6-1 victory for UC San Diego. Overall, the Tritons stand at 11-1 against the Wildcats, with a current win streak of five matches that began in 2020. UC San Diego faced Pacific twice before, in 2023 and 2024. Both matches resulted in a loss for the Tritons. In their last match on Feb. 10, 2024, they were downed 2-5.
 
2026 BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP

This year's Big West Championship will be April 22-25 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego. UC San Diego is Division I postseason eligible for the second season. In 2025, the Tritons earned the four seed and defeated Cal Poly in the quarterfinals. They then fell to top-seeded and nationally-ranked UC Santa Barbara in the semifinals.
 
ROSTER BREAKDOWN

The roster of 10 features seven newcomers and three returners. There are three grad students, one senior, two sophomores and four freshmen. Senior Zach Pellouchoud and sophomores David Adamson and Robert Freedman are the three returners.
 
MEET THE NEWCOMERS

This year's decorated freshmen class features five-stars Abhinav and Prathinav Chunduru, plus four-stars Andrew Beceiro and Trevor Nguyen.
 
The Tritons also have three grad transfers. Trey Fourticq joins from Villanova, Yaron Guberman from Division II Lynn University and Oliver Worth from Brown.
 
MEET THE COACHES

Head coach Timmer Willing is back for his 14th season as the team's head coach. He has been at UC San Diego for 25 years, having previously served as an assistant coach.
 
Jake De Vries is in his second season with the program and his first as associate head coach. Fellow second-year assistant Matthew Hollingworth rounds out the coaching staff, with Darian Bahramipour the team's athletic performance coach.
 
ACADEMIC STANDOUT

Senior Zach Pellouchoud earned multiple awards last season for his success in both the classroom and on the court. He was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, Big West Academic All-Conference Team, Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll (Highest Honors) and an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
