IRVINE, Calif. — Four UC San Diego men's tennis players have been awarded with end-of-season Big West honors, which are voted on by the conference's coaches.
Carson Lee is on the All-Big West First Team for singles, while he and
Diogo Tinoco made the All-Big West Second Team together for doubles. Another Triton doubles duo,
Zach Pellouchoud and
Pelayo Rodriguez, are also Second Team doubles honorees. Rodriguez and Tinoco were named Honorable Mention singles selections.
Lee played at No. 1 singles for the Tritons in every match this season, going 11-7 overall with a 3-2 record in Big West matches. Both marks led the team. A native of Fullerton, California, Lee is a sophomore majoring in global health. He was an All-Big West Second Team selection for singles in 2024.
Rodriguez largely played at No. 3 singles, going 6-4 overall with a 2-0 record in Big West matches. A native of Madrid, Spain, Rodriguez is a senior majoring in structural engineering and business economics. He was also the team captain this season.
Tinoco played at No. 2 singles for the Tritons, going 5-11. A native of Recife, Brazil, Tinoco is a senior majoring in international studies – international business. This is his third-consecutive All-Big West Honorable Mention selection in singles.
Lee and Tinoco played all but one match at No. 2 doubles, going 7-7 overall. The duo went 4-2 in Big West matches to lead the Tritons in both conference wins and conference winning percentage.
Pellouchoud and Rodriguez played every match together at No. 1 doubles and led the team with a 9-9 record. They went 3-3 in Big West matches. The duo were also All-Big West Second Team selections in doubles last season, while Rodriguez was a doubles Honorable Mention honoree in 2023 with
Daniel Traxler.
A native of San Diego, Pellouchoud is a junior majoring in cognitive science.
The Tritons finished the year 7-14 with a 3-3 record in The Big West, their best conference mark since making the transition to Division I ahead of the 2021 season. The team was the four seed at The Big West Championship and defeated Cal Poly 4-2 in the quarterfinal round. No. 34 UC Santa Barbara, the championship's top seed, then eliminated the Tritons in the semifinals.
UC San Diego now has eight All-Big West singles selections and five All-Big West doubles selections all-time, with this year's selections the team's most in a single season. The Tritons joined the conference in the summer of 2020 as part of the move to Division I.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 24-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors.
