RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Opening up conference play on a warm day in Southern California, the UC San Diego men's tennis team continued their winning ways as they bested the UC Riverside Highlanders 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at the RSC Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Getting back to work in search of their fifth consecutive victory, the Tritons came out fast against UC Riverside as
Daniel Traxler and
William Lan emerged victorious first. The UC San Diego duo of
Pelayo Rodriguez and
Zach Pellouchoud would follow suit with a break point win to give the Tritons an early lead with the doubles point.
Building off the early momentum from doubles,
Phillip Lan,
Diogo Tinoco,
Zach Pellouchoud and
Daniel Traxler were each able to pick up victories to account for four additional points that helped lead to the 5-1 victory. Coming through with the knockout blow was Traxler's three set victory at the sixth spot in the lineup.

"We struggled a bit to start the doubles action but hung on to get the point," head men's tennis coach
Timmer Willing said. "We are struggling a little physically and the guys competed regardless of their condition so I have to give them a lot of credit. Riverside competed all the way through to the end before we could close out the match 5-1."
TRITON TIDBITS
- The Tritons' five match winning streak is the program's longest since the transition to Division I.
- The duo of Pellouchoud and Rodriguez continued their strong overall season as they improved their record to 8-7 on the season and their third in a row.
- With his win this afternoon, Traxler has now posted a 2-0 record in singles with both wins coming this week.
