LA JOLLA, Calif.—For the second time this season, UC San Diego has swept the Big West weekly baseball awards, as announced Monday by the conference.
Crew Robinson was named Big West Field Player of the Week and
Izaak Martinez was named Big West Pitcher of the Week.
Â
It is the first weekly conference honor for Robinson and second of the season for Martinez, after the two led the Tritons to a 3-0 sweep of UC Riverside and ultimately helped UC San Diego clinch a share of its first ever Big West championship. The Tritons have now collected five weekly award winners this season.
The awards cap a historic week for UC San Diego, which earned a share of its first Big West title—and first across all membership sports for the Tritons—in the third season of Division I competition. The Tritons finish the 2023 season with a 34-18 overall record and 21-9 mark in conference play. UC San Diego now awaits the final conference results from the final weekend May 26-28 to see if it will share the title or win it outright.
