Trio Named to Academic All-District Team

Camacho, Dalquist and Hasegawa recognized for academic excellence

LA JOLLA, Calif.—UC San Diego baseball had three scholar-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced Tuesday by the organization. Gabe Camacho, Matthew Dalquist and Sam Hasegawa were all recognized for their achievements in the classroom and on the playing field. Camacho was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
 
The Tritons have now had nine scholar-athletes recognized with Academic All-District distinction in the Division I era. UC San Diego baseball has had 23 Academic All-District awardees and four Academic All-Americans all-time.
 
GABE CAMACHO | SO | INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Camacho (Encinitas, Calif.) is a sophomore, majoring in international business with a 3.57 grade point average at Muir College. It is the first CSC Academic All-District honor for Camacho. 
 
A 2025 All-Big West First Team selection, Camacho ranked sixth in the conference with a .458 on base percentage, aided by his 24 hit-by-pitch free passes that ranked second in the Big West and 16th nationally. Camacho finished first on the team in triples (3), second in runs scored (41), third in total bases (89), batting average (.307), slugging percentage (.546) and doubles (12), and fourth in hits (50), RBI (41) and home runs (7). He made 45 starts for the Tritons, with 25 games at first base and 16 games as the designated hitter.
 
MATTHEW DALQUIST | R-SO | DATA SCIENCE
Dalquist (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is a four-year Triton, majoring in data science with a 3.90 grade point average at Warren College. It is the second consecutive All-District honor for Dalquist, who is also a two-time honoree on the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll, Highest Honors. 
 
The right-hander led the Tritons with 14 starts on the mound, earning All-Big West Second Team honors. Dalquist ranked first in the Big West and 15th nationally in walks allowed per nine innings (1.44), third in the conference (11th nationally) in games started (14) and in innings pitched (81.1) and fourth in the conference (29th nationally) in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.15).
 
SAM HASEGAWA | SR | MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Hasegawa (Carlsbad, Calif.) is a senior, majoring in mechanical engineering with a 3.97 grade point average at Sixth College. Hasegawa is a two-time member of the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll, Highest Honors and two-time Big West Spring All-Academic Team.
 
Hasegawa led the Tritons with 22 appearances out of the bullpen, finishing with a 3-5 record and a team-high three saves. Hasegawa collected 31 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched, finishing the season with a 5.11 earned run average.
 
The 2025 Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions—NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must have sophomore standing both academically and athletically, as well as participated in 90 percent of the team's contests or started 66 percent of games. For pitchers, eligible nominees need to pitch 35-plus innings or appear in 17 games as a pitcher.
