MALIBU, Calif. -- The UC San Diego Tritons men's tennis team participated at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship to open up the program's fall season. Taking place at Pepperdine University in Malibu, the Tritons faced top Division 1 schools throughout the southwest including Arizona, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and UCLA.
Highlighting the first day of action for the Tritons were a pair of victories from
Pelayo Rodriguez, and an impressive win from
Carson Lee in singles play. UC San Diego was then able to flex their muscles in day two of play as four Triton scholar-athletes (
Sanjith Devineni, Rodriguez,
Charles Qian and
Zach Pellouchoud) earned victories in lone singles matches.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I.
