TEMPE, Ariz. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced their All-Academic Teams and individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees on Monday, with UC San Diego's men's program recognized as an All-Academic Team. Four Tritons —
Sanjith Devineni,
Sahm Irvine,
Joseph Teh, and
Daniel Traxler — were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the 2021-22 academic year. Additionally, in order for a team to garner ITA All-Academic Team honors, a program must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above for 2021-22.
This is
Sahm Irvine's third ITA Scholar-Athlete honor, having earned recognition in 2019 and 2020. Devineni, Teh, and Traxler are all first-time honorees.
UC San Diego was one of 163 Division I men's tennis teams to receive All-Academic Team distinction, while the four individual Tritons were among the 933 student-athletes recognized for their academic achievements.
