Decisive Victory Comes at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — UC San Diego (9-13) defeated UC Riverside (2-21) 4-0 on Tuesday at the SRC Tennis Courts. The Tritons secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and swept the singles matches to clinch the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego secured the doubles point with decisive victories on two courts. Prathinav Chunduru and Andrew Beceiro claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2. Trevor Nguyen and Abhinav Chunduru followed with a 7-5 victory at No. 1, clinching the doubles point for the Tritons. Oliver Worth and Yaron Guberman concluded their match at No. 3 doubles with a 3-6 scoreline.
 
In singles play, Worth delivered a strong performance at No. 1, finishing 6-4, 6-2. Nguyen extended the lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. Yaron Guberman continued the momentum, recording a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles, bringing the dual score to 4-0 and clinching the match for the Tritons.
 
A. Chunduru's match at No. 4 singles was left unfinished we he led at 6-0, 4-6, 2-0. Beceiro's No. 6 match was left unfinished with a 6-7(4), 3-6 score. At No. 2 the match was also left unfinished with P. Chunduru trailing 3-6, 3-4.

  • All three singles victories came in straight sets.
  • This is the Tritons' first road victory this season.
 
UP NEXT
UC San Diego hosts UC Irvine this Saturday at 2 p.m. for their Alumni Game. On Sunday, they host Hawai'i at 2 p.m. After the conclusion of the match the Tritons will host their Senior Day recognition. Both matches will be held at Northview Tennis Courts.
