Weekend Baseball Schedule Altered

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The No. 14 University of California San Diego baseball team has altered its weekend competition schedule to try and maneuver around rain in the forecast on Saturday and Sunday.

Instead of a Friday night primetime opener at 6 p.m. of a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) series with visiting Sonoma State University, the teams will now play a doubleheader that day. First pitch is set for 3 p.m., with a shortened seven-inning nightcap as is customary for CCAA twin bills. Saturday's intended single game is slated for a 2 p.m. start, with the getaway-day Sunday finale pulled an hour earlier, from 12 p.m. now to 11 a.m. All of that is still subject to further change. Please stay tuned here to UCSDtritons.com, and to relevant Twitter feeds (@UCSDbsb, @UCSDtritons).

UC San Diego enters the weekend at 9-4 overall and an even 4-4 in the CCAA, while Sonoma State is 4-4 overall and 3-2 in league play, having suffered multiple weather casualties in a challenging month against Mother Nature up and down the California coast.

General admission at Triton Ballpark on East Campus in La Jolla is $5. Parking is free on Saturday and Sunday, but permits are required the entire day on Friday. All four games this weekend should still be aired on UCSDtritons.tv, but the schedule is subject to change if further weather issues arise. The pay-per-view cost is $5.99 for a 24-hour window. Live stats are always available here, or follow along with frequent updates on the team's Twitter page (@UCSDbsb).
