SAN DIEGO/LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 14th-ranked UC San Diego men's tennis team returned to the courts Saturday for the first time since November, dropping a pair of matches against NCAA Division I squads.

UCSD started the day with a 5-2 loss against the University of San Diego at the Hogan Tennis Center.

Freshman Alexandre Miaule was a winner at No. 3 singles, posting a hard-fought 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (6) victory against Andrew Raphaelson. In addition, junior Mark Meyer took down Patrick Hall at No. 6 by scores of 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (4).

Later in the day, the Tritons hosted UC Irvine at Northview Courts, falling by a score of 5-1 in the singles-only match. Meyer picked up the lone UCSD victory, defeating Caryl Hernandez in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).

The Tritons play at Concordia in Irvine on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 2:30 p.m.
