LA JOLLA, Calif. - The No. 15 UC San Diego women's tennis team secured a 6-3 home victory over No. 38 Cal State L.A. Saturday, improving to 11-5 overall and 7-1 within the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Days after having their 65-match conference winning streak snapped, the Tritons rebounded with an impressive win over the Golden Eagles (7-8, 2-5 CCAA).
UCSD sophomore Samantha Yeung collected her 11th win of 2010 on Saturday, defeating CSULA's Marine Prevost, 6-4, 6-2. Yeung has played mostly out of the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, tallying nine of her victories out of those spots.
The Tritons began Saturday's competition by winning two of the three doubles matches, including 8-2 victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions from the respective UCSD pairs of Taskeen Bains and Natalie Varnay and then Cindy Dao and Valerie Tang.
Dao paired her doubles victory with a win in the singles ladder as well, topping the Golden Eagles' Linda Majzlikova, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 2 position.
The Tritons return to action on Monday with a 2 p.m. road match at Cal State San Bernardino. UCSD defeated the Coyotes 7-2 on April 3.
