TURLOCK, Calif. -The 4th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team got a complete-game shutout from ace
Tim Shibuya in a 7-0 victory over Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock on Friday afternoon.

Grant Bauer had two RBI apiece in the win. While Shibuya (8-1) gave up 10 hits, he was helped by the nation's No. 1 defense which turned four double plays, ending any rally the Warriors began. With the win, UC San Diego improves to 31-5, 21-4 California Collegiate Athletic Association, while Cal State Stanislaus drops to 17-17, 13-12 CCAA.
Gregorich went 1-for-2 with two RBI, raising his conference leading total to 55. Tagmyer went 2-for-3 with two RBI, with RBI singles in the third and fifth innings. Bauer provided the insurance runs with a two-RBI single in the eighth inning as the second baseman finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Shibuya went the distance, going 9.0 innings, allowing 10 hits, no runs, walked three and struck out seven. He retired 13 hitters by ground ball.
UCSD scored two runs in the first and two runs in the third to take the 4-0 lead. The Tritons added one in the fifth and two more in the eighth.
Cal State Stanislaus hurt themselves by hitting into the double plays. Shibuya got out of trouble in the first, as CSUS had runners on second and third with one out. Shibuya then struck out the next two hitters. The Tritons got out of trouble in the sixth and eighth innings by turning two more double plays.
UCSD and CSUS return to the field for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch of the first game is set for 12:00 p.m. on the Warrior campus.
