HAYWARD, Calif. - The 3rd-ranked UC San Diego baseball team pounded out 22 hits en route to a 18-5 win over Cal State East Bay on Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field. The Tritons hit three homeruns and six extra base hits as UCSD scored 14 runs in innings five through seven. Kirby St. John (4-1) earned the win allowing two runs and four hits in six innings of work. With the wins, UCSD completes a four-game sweep and improves to 19-3, 10-2 California Collegiate Athletic Association while CSUEB drops to 5-13-1, 2-10 CCAA.

Seven Tritons had multi-hit games as Kellen Lee led the way with four hits. Lee had a homerun, as did teammates Aaron Bauman and Robert Sedin. Bauman finished the day going 3-for-4 with three RBI and Sedin went 3-for-4 with a game-high five RBI. Sedin had a three-run homerun which broke open the game, giving UCSD a 10-2 lead.

Blake Tagmyer, Evan Kehoe, Vance Albitz and Brandon Gregorich also had at least two hits. Kehoe had two doubles, both of which came in the seven-run seventh inning.

St. John pitched six innings and allowed two solo homeruns. He walked one and struck out four. Austin Hill pitched an inning of work giving up three runs but none earned.

Nick Hudson and Daniel Simmons pitched the final two innings without giving up a run.

With UCSD leading 4-1 in the fifth, Bauman hit a two-run homerun to give UCSD a 6-1 advantage. UCSD added four runs in the sixth and seven runs in the seventh. Lee hit a solo homerun in the eighth to close out the scoring at 18-5.

UCSD is back in action next week when it returns to Triton Ballpark to take on Sonoma State. First pitch on Friday is set for 2:00 p.m.
