SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. ?The 6th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team lost its third straight game, losing to Cal State San Bernardino by a 4-1 score on Thursday afternoon at Arrowhead Credit Union Park. The Tritons were only able to scatter seven singles on the day, being limited by CSUSB hurler Daniel Stenavich. With the loss, the Tritons drop to 27-11, 21-8 California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the Coyotes improve to 19-20, 13-15 CCAA. Tim Shibuya pitched well in defeat, allowing three earned runs in eight innings of work. Evan Kehoe, Matt Cantele and Tim Mort each had two hits for the Tritons.
CSUSB was able to score two runs in the second, one in the third and one in the fifth for its four runs. The Tritons scored a single run in the fifth for their run.
Josh Tanner extended his team-high hitting streak to 16 games with a 1-for-2 day.
The loss to the Coyotes ended the Tritons' 10-game conference winning streak against CSUSB, spanning the last 2.5 conference seasons.
UCSD is back in action on Friday against the Coyotes at ACUP with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. The series moves to Triton Baseball Field on Saturday, with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
