LA JOLLA, Calif. ? The 23rd-ranked UC San Diego women's tennis clinched at least a share of its fourth-straight CCAA title with a convincing 9-0 victory over visiting Cal State Bakersfield on Friday afternoon at the Northview Tennis Courts. With the victory the Tritons improve to 11-7 overall and 8-0 in league play while the Roadrunners fall to 1-9 overall and 1-8 in conference action.

Head coach Liz LaPlante's team extends its conference win streak to 38-straight, a mark that dates back to the final regular season match of the 2003 season. Since that loss, the Tritons have posted three-straight undefeated league championship seasons and are only two more wins away from their fourth-straight undefeated league campaign.

UCSD won all but one of the singles matches in straight sets. The lone exception had Marsha Malinow defeating CSUB's Kati Lynott in three sets, winning by scores of 6-7, 7-6 and 10-5 in the third set super-tiebreaker.

In doubles play, the Tritons won at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots by 8-6 margins while capturing the No. 2 match by an 8-4 score.

UCSD will have a chance to clinch the 2007 CCAA Championship outright tomorrow, playing at Cal Poly Pomona. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. at the Kellogg Tennis Courts.
