AS A FRESHMAN IN 2007: Played in only one match during her first year at UCSD, posting a 1-0 record at the No. 6 spot on the singles ladder.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of Northwood High School in Irvine, Calif... Played varsity tennis for coach Seth Sushinski for four seasons... Qualified for the CIF Tournament as a junior and senior, advancing to the second and third rounds, respectively... Was a team captainfor three seasons... Was a 3-time Scholar Athlete Award winner... Named team’s Most Inspirational Player all four seasons... Was an officer with the California Scholarship Federation for two years and a member of the National Honor Society... Volunteered at the Kumon Learing Center in 2004 and 2005.

PERSONAL: Born May 5, 1987... Parents are Takafumi and Yumiko Nakano... Has one younger brother named Jotaro... Is a Communications and Japanese Studies double major at Muir College... Enjoys dancing, art and biking in her spare time... Is a member of the UCSD Tritones, an a cappella group on the La Jolla campus.
