Tritons Drop Early Lead in 2-4 Loss to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Tritons (5-11) ended in a 2-4 result against the Santa Clara Broncos (5-10) on Wednesday. UC San Diego secured the doubles point early, but the Broncos battled back in singles matches to secure their victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons claimed the doubles point with victories No. 1 and 3. Carling Allaye-Chan and Hana Gamracy triumphed in a decisive 6-1 finish at No. 3. Olivia Allegre and Julia Visaya played at No. 1 doubles concluding with a 6-4 win to secure the point. Alisa Lansky and Allison Lian were left unfinished at No. 2; they were tied 4-4.
 
In singles, the Broncos captured their first point at No. 2 before Visaya claimed the lone singles win for the Tritons at No. 6 in a two-set victory 6-4, 6-1.
 
At No. 4 Gamracy battled against her opponent in a close 4-6, 5-7 loss. The next two points for Santa Clara came in three sets at No. 1 and 3. Allaye-Chan finished with a 4-6, 6-0, 4-6 scoreline at No. 3. At No. 1 Allegre finished 6-3, 1-6, 6-7(3). Lian's match at No. 5 was left unfinished in the third set with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 2-3.
