CARSON, Calif. ? The UC San Diego baseball team split its doubleheader with Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday afternoon on the CSUDH campus. UCSD won game one by a 10-6 score as David Morehead went 4-for-5 with a double and homerun. Vance Albitz went 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI and Chris Franco also homered. The Tritons fell behind early in game two, trailing by as much as an 8-0 score. UCSD made a furious rally in the final inning, scoring five times but falling in the end by a 14-9 score. UCSD takes the series by winning 3-of-4 and improves to 24-12, 14-6 CCAA. UCSD is back in action on Tuesday, April 3 when it hosts Cal State San Marcos in a non-conference game at 3:00 p.m. at Triton Baseball Field.
In the first game, UCSD scored nine of its 10 runs in the final three innings of the game. Eric Abraham earned the win and Derek Barham earned his fourth save of the season.
In the second game, UCSD scored five times in the seventh inning, but it was not enough, as the Toros took their only game of the series.
