MONTEREY, Calif. ? The 21st-ranked UC San Diego baseball team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay in non-conference action 10-0 on Friday afternoon in Seaside.  Byron Grubman pitched a complete-game, scattering five hits and striking out seven.  The Tritons his three homeruns as David Morehead, Scott Clement and Matt Cantele provided the power.  Garrett Imeson and Jonathan Erickson had multi-hit games.  UCSD improves to 24-16 while the Otters drop to 11-29.
 
With UCSD ahead 1-0 in the fifth, the Tritons finally put something together.  With two outs in the UCSD fifth, Morehead was hit and Clement homered to right center.  Cantele then made it back-to-back with his blast to center field and the Tritons led 4-0 through five. 
 
UCSD broke it open in the sixth as Imeson, John Roth had RBI singles in front of Moreheads' three-run homerun as UCSD took a 9-0 lead.
 
UCSD added one run in the seventh but left the bases loaded and led 10-0. 
 
Grubman pitched his fourth complete game this season and improves to 5-4.
 
UCSD is back in action with a doubleheader against CSUMB tomorrow.  First pitch of the first game is slated for 12:00 pm in Seaside.
