The 19th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team split a doubleheader against Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday afternoon in Turlock. UCSD won the first game 5-3 as
Jose Navarro went seven innings for the win and
Ryan Leake earned the save.
Matt Cantele had a big afternoon going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a homerun.
John Roth,
Tim Mort and
Jonathan Erickson each had multi-hit games. UCSD gave up eight runs in the first three innings of the second game and could never recover, losing 13-1. While the Tritons have been outscored 34-7 in three games, they can still salvage a split with a win in the series finale on Sunday. The Tritons are now 20-14, 11-8 CCAA while the Warriors are 21-12, 11-8 CCAA.
In game one, Mort, Erickson and Roth led a balanced UCSD attack as the Tritons built a 5-1 lead and held on for the win.
In game two, Garrett Imeson had the lone Triton multi-hit game with two hits.
UCSD and CSUS wrap up the four game series with a single game tomorrow afternoon in Turlock, Calif.
