TURLOCK, Calif. - The 19th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team had a tough day against Cal State Stanislaus losing 18-1 on Friday afternoon at Warrior Baseball Field. The loss drops UCSD to 19-13, 10-7 CCAA and ends UCSD's season-high three game winning streak. Cal State Stanislaus improves to 20-11, 10-7 CCAA. The two teams will square off with a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch of the first game slated for 12:00 p.m. in Turlock, Calif. The four-game series will conclude with a single game on Sunday.
The Warriors had eight players with a multiple-hit game led by Kevin McCarthy and A.J. Valentine who each had three in the contest.
Stanislaus went up 3-0 in the first behind three RBI-Singles from Tony Marx, Chris LeBoeff and Brett Gordon.
UC San Diego scored its lone run of the game on a solo home run from Matt Cantele, but the Warriors tacked on four more in the third to take the early 7-1 lead.
