LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego women's soccer continues The Big West schedule Wednesday, traveling to California Baptist for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Riverside. The Tritons will then return home Saturday, welcoming Cal Poly to Triton Soccer Stadium at 6 p.m. for their second conference home match of the season.

The Tritons enter the week with a 1-0-1 record in Big West play, earning a win over CSUN and a 2-2 draw against Utah Valley. UC San Diego, California Baptist and Cal Poly are among just seven teams in The Big West to have recorded a conference win through the opening week of league play.

Wednesday's meeting will be the 14th all-time between UC San Diego and California Baptist, with the Tritons holding an 11-2-0 advantage in the series. Saturday's matchup will be the eighth all-time meeting between UC San Diego and Cal Poly, with the Tritons holding a 2-5-0 record against the Mustangs.

Single-match tickets and season passes are available for purchase through the Triton Box Office. Fans attending matches on campus should note that parking permits are required seven days a week at UC San Diego.

LAST TIME VS. CALIFORNIA BAPTIST (9/1/24) | Stats
The Tritons last faced California Baptist at Triton Soccer Stadium, falling 1-0 to the Lancers in a closely contested match. California Baptist held a slim 9-8 advantage in shots, while UC San Diego recorded two shots on goal. Ginny Fronk made three saves for the Tritons, and California Baptist scored the lone goal in the 66th minute off a deflection. The result marked the first meeting between the programs since 2015.

LAST TIME VS. CAL POLY (9/25/25) | Stats
UC San Diego and Cal Poly last met in San Luis Obispo, with the Mustangs earning a 2-0 victory over the Tritons. UC San Diego recorded 13 shots, including four on goal, while freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Wilfert made five saves. Lana Gilligan led the Tritons with four shots, while Chloe Yates hit the post in the 41st minute. Cal Poly scored twice in a six-minute span early in the second half to secure the win.
 
CHASING THE RECORD BOOKS
A pair of Tritons are making their mark on the UC San Diego Division I record book. Ava Tibor enters the match with eight career goals, just three shy of the program's Division I record of 11. Meanwhile, Alexis Nguyen is closing in on the all-time assist mark. Nguyen entered the season with seven career assists and is currently tied with two others for the record. One more assist would give her sole possession of the UC San Diego Division I career assists record.

WILFERT PUTS UP A WALL
Charlotte Wilfert was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week and UCU Athlete of the Week on September 28^th after she delivered a record-setting performance in UC San Diego's first two Big West matches of the season. Against Utah Valley, Wilfert recorded 15 saves, breaking a 35-year-old UC San Diego school record for most saves in a single match. Her 15 saves are also the most by any Big West goalkeeper in a single match since 2024. Wilfert played all 90 minutes in both contests, recording a shutout victory over CSUN before making 15 saves to preserve a 2-2 draw against Utah Valley. She finished the week with a .895 save percentage.

SHIH SHOOTS, SHIH SCORES
Redshirt freshman Olivia Shih was named Big West Rookie of the Week on Sept. 21 after helping UC San Diego close out non-conference play with a 2-1 victory over LMU. Shih scored her second collegiate goal and recorded her first collegiate assist, including an assist on the game-winning goal. She played 67 minutes and finished with one shot on target to help the Tritons enter Big West play with a 4-2-2 record.

ALEXIS ANSWERS THE CALL
Senior midfielder Alexis Nguyen was named UCU Athlete of the Week on Aug. 24 after playing a key role in UC San Diego's unbeaten week. Nguyen helped the Tritons earn a 2-1 victory at UNLV before battling Northern Arizona to a scoreless draw. She scored the game-winning goal against the Rebels and finished the week with five shots, including four on goal, while starting both matches and playing 143 minutes.

FOUR-GOAL FRENZY
UC San Diego scored four goals, including first collegiate goals from Olivia Shih and Regan Ramirez, as the Tritons defeated Utah Tech, 4-2, on Aug. 15 at Triton Soccer Stadium. The four-goal performance marked UC San Diego's most in a match since Aug. 17, 2023, and the most in a home match during the Tritons' NCAA Division I era. Ava Tibor and Lana Gilligan also found the back of the net in the victory.
 
TRITONS WELCOME NINE NEWCOMERS
UC San Diego women's soccer head coach Kristin Jones '04 has announced the addition of nine newcomers who will join the Tritons' roster for the 2026 season: five transfers and three first-year scholar-athletes. Cadee Borg (Pepperdine), Alissey Fang (UC Irvine), Natalie Oca (LMU), Kiki Vostermans (Cal Poly), and Lauren Zamora (Sarah Lawrence College) will transfer to UC San Diego. First-year Tritons include Maddie Neier, Regan Ramirez, Olivia Schiel, and Claire Tonkin.
 
FOUR TRITONS CAPTURE BIG WEST HONORS IN 2025
Four UC San Diego scholar-athletes have been honored by The Big West as the conference announced its women's soccer postseason awards. Freshman forward Ava Tibor was selected as The Big West Freshman of the Year by the conference's 11 head coaches and was also named to the Second Team and Freshman Team. Senior back Allie Luo, junior midfielder Alexis Nguyen, and freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Wilfert were all named Honorable Mention All-Big West, with Wilfert also earning a spot on the Freshman Team.
Tibor becomes the first UC San Diego women's soccer player to earn a major postseason award since the Tritons moved to NCAA Division I and joined The Big West in 2020. She led all Big West freshmen with six goals, establishing a new UC San Diego Division I-era program record.
 
RECORD SETTERS RETURN
The 2025 season saw Ava Tibor and Charlotte Wilfert etch their names in the UC San Diego women's soccer record book. Tibor set the program's Division I-era single-season goals record with six goals, while Wilfert established a new career shutouts record with nine. Both record-setting standouts return for the 2026 season, bringing experience and proven production as the Tritons look to build on last year's success.
 
HEAD COACH KRISTIN JONES '04
Kristin Jones '04 enters her eighth season at the helm of the UC San Diego women's soccer program. A standout player during her time as a Triton, Jones returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach in 2004 before being promoted to associate head coach in 2015 and ultimately taking over as head coach in 2018.

Jones has guided UC San Diego to a 60-51-29 (.532) overall record and a 32-24-17 (.555) mark in conference play. Her tenure began with back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances, including a 19-3-2 campaign in 2018 that resulted in a CCAA championship.

Now in her eighth season, Jones continues to lead the Tritons as they compete in The Big West.
 
TEAM CAPTAINS
Senior midfielder Alexis Nguyen and junior defender Leilah Raad will serve as team captains for the 2026 season, providing leadership and experience for the Tritons.
 
UC SAN DIEGO TO THE WCC
UC San Diego will join the West Coast Conference beginning in 2027-28. This season, Triton women's soccer faced a pair of future WCC opponents in Loyola Marymount and Pacific, earning victories over both. UC San Diego defeated Pacific, 2-0, before earning a 2-1 win over LMU.

The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Given UC San Diego's close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its connections with the world-famous Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Triton became our mascot in 1964.
