LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego women's soccer has earned its first Big West weekly award of the 2026 season, with
Olivia Shih named Rookie of the Week by the conference today. Shih's selection comes after the Tritons closed out their non-conference schedule with a 2-1 victory over LMU last Monday. The redshirt freshman played a key role in the result, scoring one goal and assisting on the game-winning goal.
Shih played 67 minutes and finished with one shot, which was on target. Her performance included her second collegiate goal and first collegiate assist, helping the Tritons secure the victory in their final match before conference play.
The Seattle, Washington, native's recognition marks the first Big West weekly award for UC San Diego women's soccer this season and the first Big West Rookie of the Week honor of her career.
UC San Diego enters Big West play with a 4-2-2 record. The Tritons open conference action Wednesday, Sept. 23, traveling to CSUN for a 7 p.m. kickoff. UC San Diego will then return home Saturday, Sept. 26, to host Utah Valley at Triton Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
