LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego played Utah Valley to a 2-2 draw Saturday at Triton Soccer Stadium. Charlotte Wilfert made a career-high 15 saves to help the Tritons withstand sustained pressure and earn a point, moving UC San Diego to 5-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in Big West Conference play.

Wilfert's 15 saves marked a career high and set a new program record, breaking a mark that had stood for 35 years. Utah Valley finished with a 31-13 advantage in shots and an 18-8 edge in shots on goal, but UC San Diego repeatedly answered the Wolverines' attacking stretches to keep the match level.

Karize Madero and Kat Harris provided the Tritons' goals. Madero's goal in the 50^th minute marked the second of her career, while Harris scored the first goal of her career in the 59^th minute off an assist from Anya Lin to give UC San Diego a 2-1 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons faced early pressure from Utah Valley, with the Wolverines generating seven attacking actions during an opening scoreless stretch. Wilfert made multiple saves, while UC San Diego also added a goal-line save to keep the match scoreless.

UC San Diego created chances of its own, with Kennadi Borg forcing a save in the 20th minute and Olivia Shih putting an attempt on frame in the 24th. Alexis Nguyen and Natalie Oca followed with shots in quick succession as the Tritons continued to search for the opening goal.

Utah Valley broke through in the 29th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Wilfert continued to keep the Tritons within one, making late saves before halftime. Molly Blom also forced a save in the 37th minute as UC San Diego entered the break trailing, 1-0.

The Tritons responded quickly after halftime. Madero leveled the match in the 50th minute, scoring her second career goal to make it 1-1.

UC San Diego then took the lead in the 59th minute. Lin played the ball to Harris, who found the back of the net for her first career goal, putting the Tritons ahead, 2-1.

Utah Valley answered in the 65th minute to tie the match at 2-2. Wilfert responded less than two minutes later with another save to keep the match level.

The Tritons generated another push while the match remained tied, recording four shots and a corner kick over a four-minute stretch. Oca and Blom each put attempts on goal during the run, but Utah Valley's goalkeeper kept the score even.

Utah Valley then applied significant pressure late, recording six shots and three corner kicks. Wilfert came through with saves in the 82nd, 84th and 90th minutes to preserve the draw as the Tritons withstood nine attacking actions during the late stretch without conceding.

UC San Diego finished with 13 shots and eight shots on goal, while Wilfert's career-high 15 saves helped the Tritons secure the 2-2 result.
