SAN DIEGO - The UC San Diego men's golf team is third of 17 schools after Sunday's opening round of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
Playing on Torrey Pines' North Course, the Tritons finished their first 18 holes at four under par.
Loyola Marymount leads the field at nine under and UC San Barbara is third at eight under. California Baptist and DePaul are tied for fourth at one under par.
Those five teams are the only ones to shoot under par in Sunday's round.
Individually, senior
Nathan Tseng is UC San Diego's leader, in second place of 104 golfers after firing a three under 69. Two more Tritons are among the top 10 as junior
Justin Gill and freshman
Ethan Lien are tied for seventh at two under.
Loyola Marymount's Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh sits ahead of the field at six under.
Monday's second round tees off at 1 p.m. and the final round is set for Tuesday at 7 a.m.
Admission is free and spectators are allowed on course after picking up a free bracelet from the representative at the putting green.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of the Big West Conference in NCAA Division I.
