LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Big West's weekly awards for March 2 see UC San Diego's
Peter Selcho honored as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
In two matches with Vanguard last week, Selcho totaled 17 block assists. The middle blocker had nine in Wednesday's road match and eight in Friday's home match, both of which topped his previous season high of five on Feb. 12.
Â
Selcho also finished the week with 12 kills, a .333 hitting percentage, four aces and two digs. He had only one blocking error. All four aces came in Wednesday's road match and mark a new career high.
Â
A redshirt senior from Fountain Valley, California, Selcho is majoring in international studies-international business at Roosevelt College. This is the second Big West Defensive Player of the Week award of his career, having previously won during the 2024 season. Selcho is the first Triton to win a Big West weekly award this year.
Â
The No. 11 Tritons are 9-5 on the year after going 1-1 against Vanguard last week. Conference play opens this week, with the Tritons set to face two other ranked foes. They will host No. 17 CSUN on Tuesday before visiting No. 12 UC Santa Barbara on Friday.
