RETURNING TO HENDERSON
After a historic 2025-26Â season, the Tritons will return to Henderson to defend their Big West crown. Last season UC San Diego entered as No. 4 seed and made history as the first program to send both its men's and women's basketball teams to the NCAA Tournament in their first season of Division I eligibility. The Tritons defeated No. 8 seed Cal Poly in the quarterfinal, 59-54 and No. 1 seed Hawai'i in the semifinal, 51-49. UC San Diego secured the title with a 75-66 victory over No. 3 seed UC Davis in the championship.

BACK-TO-BACK 20-WIN SEASONS
For the first time in their Division I era, the Tritons have registered two consecutive 20-win seasons, reaching the mark on Feb. 28 at Cal Poly with a dominating 85-61 victory. UC San Diego registered five straight 20+ win seasons to close out the Division II era, including a 30-1 mark in 2018-19. In D-II, the Tritons reached 20 wins in 13 of the last 15 seasons, dating back to 2005-06.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tritons handled business on the road, wrapping up their regular season schedule away from La Jolla with a pair of wins at Cal State Bakersfield, 85-79, and Cal Poly, 85-61. With both UC Davis and UC Irvine dropping contests at Hawai'i and UC Santa Barbara, the Tritons moved back into a tie for the lead in the Big West with the Anteaters.

SIX TRITONS EARN ALL-BIG WEST HONORS
UC San Diego had a conference-best six Tritons recognized with All-Big West honors, including
Erin Condron and
Makayla Rose earning a spot on the First Team. Rose secured back-to-back Big West Defensive Player of the Year, after earning the same distinction in 2024-25. She was also named Co-Best Hustle Player and earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team. Three Tritons earned All-Big West Honorable Mention, including

RECORDS REACHED FOR THE TRITONS
The Tritons have set several program records this season, including their most wins (22) in the Division I era. UC San Diego set the program's points record against a Division I opponent, scoring 94 points against Portland State (Nov. 30) and recorded a program-high 22 steals and 31 turnovers forced against CSUN (Jan. 31).

MAKAYLA ROSE set the Tritons' Division I single season program record on March 5 against Cal State Fullerton and currently has 96 for the season, which ranks 15th in the NCAA. She has already surpassed her previous season high at Stanislaus State (83) and her 63 steals mark from last season, which earned her Big West Defensive Player of the Year. Rose also set the Tritons' Division I single game record with nine steals against Hawai'i (Feb. 7). She is four steals away from reaching 100 for the season. She also recorded her 1,500th career point on her senior day against UC Santa Barbara, finishing with a game-high 25 in the contest.Â

DYMONIQUE MAXIEÂ set the Tritons' Division I single season program record for assists against UC Santa Barbara in the regular season finale (March 7) and currently has 136 for the season. She has nearly doubled her previous season highs of 71 and 74. She set the program's D-I single-game record with 11 assists at Portland State (Nov. 30).

TRITONS PICKED FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL
The defending Big West champions were picked to finished fourth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 77 points and two first-place votes. Hawai'i was picked to finish first with 91 points and four of the 11 first-place votes, followed closely by UC Irvine with 90 points and four first-place votes as well. UC Davis received one first-place vote and 83 points for third, while UC San Diego received the remaining two first-place votes to rank fourth.

UC SAN DIEGO HEADED TO THE WCC
On Sept. 3, 2025, UC San Diego accepted a formal invitation to join the West Coast Conference (WCC) beginning July 1, 2027. UC San Diego will compete in 14 of the West Coast Conference's 16 sponsored sports, including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's water polo, baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's golf and women's rowing. The university remains committed to finding a conference affiliation for its sports that will not compete in the West Coast Conference.

Beginning in 2027-28, the WCC membership will consist of: University of California San Diego, Loyola Marymount University, University of the Pacific, Pepperdine University, University of Portland, Saint Mary's College, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, and Seattle University. UC San Diego will become the first public institution in the West Coast Conference since the departure of the University of Nevada-Reno in 1979.

ANDY FEE NAMED ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT UC SAN DIEGOÂ
On Sept. 10, 2025, UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla announced the hiring of college sports veteran
Andy Fee as the Tritons' new Director of Athletics. Fee will become just the fourth Director of Athletics at UC San Diego since 1966. Fee joins the Tritons after spending the 2024-25 season as Deputy AD at Seattle University. Prior to Seattle U, Fee spent two years at Washington as Deputy AD and Chief of Staff.Â

Before relocating to Seattle, Fee spent five years as Director of Athletics at Long Beach State from 2017 to 2022. During this time, Long Beach State's athletic programs found great success as the school advanced to the postseason in 18 of its 19 sports programs in his five-year tenure. The Beach won a pair of national championships in men's volleyball and claimed The Big West Commissioner's Cup three times.Â

No stranger to conference transition, Fee will help guide the Tritons into the West Coast Conference in 2027-28. He also helped guide Washington into the Big Ten and Seattle U into the WCC in July.
