CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The UC San Diego men's golf team placed sixth of 16 teams as the R.E. Lamkin Invitational wrapped up Tuesday.
San Diego State and the University of San Diego hosted the tournament at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista.
The Tritons have placed in the top-10 in all seven events they have competed in this season. They have finished fifth or higher six times.
UC San Diego shot even par for the tournament. In Tuesday's third and final round, the Tritons were one over par. In Monday's first two rounds, they shot three under in the opener and two over in the second 18.
Individually,
Justin Gill and
Davis McDowell tied for 16th in the 96 player field. Both Tritons were two under par.
The University of San Diego won the team title, firing 26-under. Long Beach State was second at 24 under and BYU was third at 17 under.
The individual medalist was Kihei Akina of BYU, who finished 14 under, one stroke in front of Alejandro De Castro of Long Beach State.
There were six Big West teams in the field. Joining UC San Diego were Cal Poly (10th), Long Beach State (2nd), UC Davis (8th), UC Irvine (14th), and UC Santa Barbara (15th).
This was the third time that UC San Diego had played this tourney since moving to NCAA Division I status for the 2000-2001 season. The Tritons were in the field in 2025 and 2022.

About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of the Big West Conference in NCAA Division I.
