THE TRITONS
This weekend's event will see 21 Tritons in action: THE INDOOR SEASON
The Tritons will compete in three indoor meets this season. After visiting Spokane, Washington, for the Riverfront Multis Feb. 5-7, they will be back in Reno for the Battle Born Classic Feb. 13-15.

2026 marks the second year that UC San Diego has sponsored an indoor track and field program.

DEFENDING CHAMPS
At last year's Big West Track & Field Championships, the Tritons saw two scholar-athletes capture individual championships. Tamara Aimufia won the women's long jump event, and Feyi Olukanni won the women's shot put event. Both return for the Tritons this season.

The Tritons also won last year's Big West title in the women's 4x400m relay. Jordyn Thomas returns from last year's relay squad.

BACK FOR MORE
The Tritons qualified six scholar-athletes for the First Round of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Five of those athletes are back this season: 2026 POSTSEASON
The 2026 Big West Track & Field Championships will be May 15-16 on the campus of Long Beach State. The heptathlon and decathlon will be contested one week earlier, May 8-9, on the campus of UC Irvine.

UC San Diego is postseason eligible for the second time in Division I. At last year's Big West Championships, the Triton women finished fifth, while the men took seventh.

OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST KIM GRAHAM-MILLER AT THE HELM
UC San Diego Director of Athletics Earl W. Edwards announced the hiring of former Olympic gold medal-winner Kim Graham-Miller as the new head track & field coach of the Tritons on July 11, 2022. She took over UC San Diego's men's and women's programs after serving as an assistant coach at Sacramento State since 2014, working with relay teams and sprints and hurdles.  During her time in Sacramento, she helped coach the Hornets to six Big Sky Conference titles.

A 1993 graduate of Clemson University, she was a decorated athlete for the Tigers. The team captain was a three-time ACC Performer of the Year – the only woman to capture that honor three times. She was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1999.

After graduating from Clemson, Graham-Miller took part in the 1995 Indoor and Outdoor World Championships, where she was a semifinalist in the 400-meter. Competing for the United States in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, she was a 400-meter semifinalist before capturing a gold medal as part of the 4x400 meter relay team.

Coach Graham-Miller is a member of the Clemson Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Clemson Ring of Honor in the summer of 2024. It's the highest honor any Clemson student-athlete may earn.

WHY THE TRITONS?
The Triton is described as the offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a demigod of the sea with a lower part of the body like that of a fish. It is known as a mighty and fierce sea warrior. Given UC San Diego's close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its connections with the world-famous Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Triton became our mascot in 1964.
